History
DAMAGE is a pioneering synth-punk band From Orlando, Florida, founded in the early 80s and known for their unique brand of hardcore energy delivered through analog synthesizers and live drums, without guitars. Often compared to seminal synth-punk acts like The Screamers, Suicide, and Units, Damage pushed the speed and raw aggression of American hardcore into new, unexplored territory.
Throughout the mid 80’s and early 90’s, DAMAGE toured the country performing alongside legendary hardcore bands like Adolescents, A.O.D., Dead Kennedys, Battalion of Saints, and SNFU, as well as post-punk and experimental icons like Fugazi, The Flaming Lips, GWAR, and Alien Sex Fiend. Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys, Alternative Tentacles) wrote that "Hardly anybody goes as far to use synthesizers as an instrument of attack. Damage from Florida are one of the best, if not the only successful keyboard punk band since the Screamers."

Beyond their music, members of Damage co-founded Space Fish Records and later opened the live venue Club Space Fish, a short-lived but notorious staple of the Orlando underground. Club Space Fish ultimately closed in 1991 after an infamous GG Allin performance led to an ATF raid and the seizure of the club’s operating licenses.
DAMAGE regrouped in 2024 and released their fourth album Modern World the following year.. For 2026, they will release a new electronic synth-punk / dance club inspired EP entitled How To Talk To Humans, available on 12” vinyl and digital distribution through Space Fish Records.
Reunion
Although the members of DAMAGE now reside in New York City, they still consider themselves a Florida band at heart. Founding members Mike Brown (lead synth, vocals) and Joe Livingston (drums, synths), joined by new member Joshua Clark (synth, backing vocals) will perform at Club Space Fish Nite, at Conduit on May 16th, along with four of the original bands (Love Gods In Leisure Suits, Target Earth, Bloody Mary, and The Riddlers) that help launch the club.Sounds pretty cool, right?
